Dear Student,

Welcome to QUB Seidokan! Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced martial artist, our club can cater for your abilities.

So what can you expect?

There is a lot to be gained from training with the club and we like to cover a broad range of areas in order to make our training both effective and fun.

If you’re looking to improve your general fitness level, there are few better or more comprehensive methods. Strength, cardio-vascular ability, stamina, flexibility and co-ordination will all greatly improve from regular training sessions, which will come in handy on the dance-floor if not on the street!

Your self defence skills will be thoroughly developed through training with people of all shapes, sizes, sexes and abilities, from fellow beginners, to fighters who compete successfully at international level. Seidokan is a holistic style encompassing not only punches and kicks but grappling and ground fighting also. You’ll even get to play with traditional weapons occasionally!

For the more competitive among you, this can be exercised in your first few months at the Irish Intervarsities in which our club holds an outstanding record and of course there’s no limit to what level you could end up competing at with a little work.

But of course as important as any of this is, you’ll enjoy the training experience, having a laugh and and meeting a new and varied group of buddies to head to the pub with afterwards for a well earned pint!
