The highlight of the year for sports Karate enthusiasts in Ireland, with top experts Tommy Morris (WKF Chief Referee) and Antonio Seba (Karate's Top Kumite Strategist).
March 2006 - Martial Arts Coaches achieve the National Award in Coaching Studies
23 Martial Arts Coaches successfully achieved National Accreditation for their coaching skills by achieving the Award in Coaching Studies. The Coaches represented a range of discplines including; Ju Jutsu, Karate and Taekwondo.
In today’s increasingly litigious society and with mounting pressures from insurers to prove coaching competence, the nationally accredited ACS is an excellent practical qualification for martial arts coaches. The award is applicable to coaches regardless of discipline and underpins any sports specific coaching qualifications already achieved.
The ACS Programme was of great benefit to both me and my coaches,” comments Danny Corr (former Northern Ireland Karate Coach and Competitor with 6 All Ireland All Styles Titles and a number of Irish and National Titles), “Regardless of how long you’ve been coaching, unless you’re up to speed with current legislation and best practice coaching methods, you’re not doing yourself or your students justice. Karateka is Northern Ireland's Coach Tutor of The Year - Friday, March 03, 2006
Karateka Martin Rice was recognised for his achievements in raising coaching standards within Northern Ireland during the Coaching NI Coach of the Year Awards last night. Martin was joint winner of the Coach Tutor Category. He comments,
"I'm honoured to receive the award. There is a lot of good work that coaches, particularly martial arts coaches within Ulster, are doing to suppoort athlete development at all levels - I'm delighted to be part of it!"
